Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Presentation Skills Coaching and Executive Communication Coaching?
There is a lot of overlap between the two. The main distinctions are that presentation work (whether one-on-one coaching or in a workshop setting) includes a focus on the development of the presentation as well as its delivery. Presentation work focuses more on audience persuasion, engaging the audience to reach our objective. It also includes a lot of rehearsal time to practice and hone the presentation.
What is the difference between Presentation Skills Coaching and Presentation Skills Workshops?
Coaching is delivered in a one-on-one format, and workshops are delivered in a group setting where peer feedback is incorporated. Workshops allow more people to attend and offer a lot of information over a short period of time (typically a half-day to two-day period), which facilitates faster absorption than a weekly coaching session.
What if I need help with a specific facet of presentation skills or delivery to a particular audience?
All of our services are specific to the client’s needs. So if you need to practice delivery for a technical audience, or a conference setting, or via webcam or tablet, we can help you prepare to present for those circumstances.
If I engage Julie Shen & Associates, will my program be delivered by Julie or someone else?
All programs are personally designed and delivered by Julie Shen, Founder of Julie Shen & Associates. In the unlikely event of any change, it would be clearly communicated well in advance.
Is the Executive Coaching program only for executives?
No. We primarily work with managers, executives and other key team members within corporate organizations, but we deliver customized programs to meet the needs of any employees, regardless of their current role.
What is the difference between Communication Coaching programs for groups versus one-on-one?
Group workshops are good for team building and having a joint understanding of the teams communication style and dynamic. One on one coaching gives the individual a better understanding of how their specific style can be perceived by others, therefore gaining more control of that perception. Coaching is great for managers and leaders as it gives them tools to lead others.
